The star of the week is Karim El- Gawly who produced an outstanding piece of descriptive writing in English. He wrote a mythical story which included similes, metaphors, personification, fantastic characters and magic! WELL DONE KARIM!
In English 5B have started to look at different types of explanation texts and identify common features. The class have completed this by studying a range of different sources and creating mind maps in triad groups. 5B had a fantastic time at the Horrible Histories trip! The whole class thoroughly enjoyed the performance whilst also learning some cool facts about the history of Britain. In Topic this week 5B had a big debate…..we took ourselves back to the Cold War where the USA and USSR battled out the conspiracies surrounding the race to space. It is vital that you all take a few minutes to respond. This is the best possible way to celebrate our successes and develop areas across school and GEMS. Your thoughts and ideas are so important to us and these surveys come back to schools for us to review. Please make sure your opinions count and fill in the survey when it arrives in your Inbox next Thursday. We have 1,017 Families at JPS; let us have 1,017 voices heard J 5B started the week creating scary settings for a sinister forest using similes and metaphors and re-told our settings to the rest of the class. Spooky photos and video below. We also planned and then created our mythical stories which included some scary beasts, villains, magic and morals. Next week we will be looking at explanation text such a building, cooking, constructing. Whilst also practicing our noun phrases.
After a relaxing half term 5B have had a great week jumping into our new English topic ‘Myths, Legends and Fables’. We compared the differences and identified the features whilst also exploring the different characters you would find in various tales. The class has read Perseus and Medusa and enjoyed creating freeze frames of various scenes in the tale. This week introduced our new Topic ‘Mission to Mars’ where we will be exploring all aspects of Space! The class created a range of challenging questions that they would like to explore for the remainder of the term and stuck them on the ‘working wall’ in the class so they can be answered as we go along. Star of the week this week is Gabby for her outstanding non-chronological report. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Please note that a meeting will take place on Monday 17th November in the main hall about the camp in Term 2. Absolute Adventure (camp provider), will be there to give a short talk and take questions. Please attend if you wish.
