We have been busy preparing for the Arts Festival this week and been creating both 2D and 3D pieces of art. Firstly we looked at the life of Nelson Mandela and his role in ending apartheid in South Africa. We then looked at how a Brazilian artist, Eduardo Kobra, took photos of world leaders and used geometric patterns to transform them. After a lot of perseverance the children created wonderful bright patterns.
Our 3D piece will be a Quilt of Peace, created by joining together squares of material that the children will have embroidered with symbols and messages of peace. The children have been working hard on their designs and practising their running and blanket stitch ready to start their piece next week. Some children have found it easier than others but I have been so impressed with how everyone patiently practised and stuck with it. If anyone would like to come in next week and join us to lend a hand it would be much appreciated. I will send an email out to parents with the details soon.
Well done to the lovely Atishya for being awarded the Achievement Award this week for your effort and enthusiasm in all lessons!
Well done 5D, we have had another fantastic week. You really are a pleasure to teach!
